Body Contouring/ Liposuction

Conditions for a good candidate
Most people who are considering liposuction are within thirty percent of their ideal weight, have elastic skin and have good muscle tone. However, they have areas or pockets of excess fat that they can’t eliminate no matter how much they diet or exercise.
Consultation Expectations:
Consultation is considered the first step for the patient. Dr. Kaila will discuss your expectations for your results as well as assessing your physical and emotional health. Come prepared, as there will be many important questions that will be asked of you during your consult. Some examples of this are listed below:
-
Surgeries in past
-
Medical conditions
-
Medications being taken
-
Allergies

Liposuction
Liposuction is meant to reshape your body contours permanently in areas which are not proportionate. There are three variations to liposuction:
-
Traditional liposuction
-
Tumescent technique - involves saline solution
-
Ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL) - involves the use of ultrasonic energy
Liposuction can be performed on the following areas:
- Abdomen
- Back
- Thighs
- Waist
- Hips
- Knees
- Ankles
- Calves
- Buttocks
- Chin
- Neck
- Cheeks
- Upper arms
- Breasts
During liposuction, incisions are made in the skin. However, they are not large enough to require stitches. Liposuction can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures. For example, liposuction can be performed with tummy tuck, face lift or breast reduction.

Day of Surgery
Surgery is performed at our private clinic. This procedure is usually performed under a general anesthesia. During the procedure, you will remain comfortable. Your physical status is always monitored during the operation, as well as in recovery.
After Surgery:
Immediately after surgery you are brought to the recovery area. You will notice when you wake up that there are garments applied to the area the procedure was performed on. The garments are called compression garments. They help minimize the swelling as well as compress your skin allowing your new body contours to heal.
Healing
As you begin your healing process, you will notice swelling, bruising, soreness, and numbness. All of these conditions are very common and are controlled with medication. Dr. Kaila will advise you regarding post operative care.
Follow-Up Appointments
Post operative appointments are essential to evaluate the progress of your healing. Dr. Kaila will want to continue his assessment with periodic check ups. This is important so Dr. Kaila can monitor your results and answer any of your questions and concerns post operatively.
Results
For all swelling to fully diminish, it could possibly take several months. During this time, your body’s new contours will continue developing. Your results should be maintained, and this is helped by watching your weight and eating healthy as well as by routine physical activity. Your new body contours should assist you in you leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
